Dog-Safe Carrot Cake Recipe

This dog-safe version of Carrot Cake looks just like the real thing — and your pup will absolutely love it! Perfect for a special treat or a fun homemade meal. 🐾

🥩 Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (60g) whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup (30g) finely shredded carrots
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

🌿 Toppings & Garnish

  • 2 tbsp plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp plain, low-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp finely shredded carrots for garnish
  • 1 small bone-shaped dog biscuit

👨‍🍳 Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small ramekin or a standard muffin tin cup.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, applesauce, and melted coconut oil. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, shredded carrots, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared ramekin/muffin cup and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.

🍽️ Assembly & Serving

  1. While the cake cools, mix the Greek yogurt and softened cream cheese together until smooth to create the ‘frosting’.
  2. Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting over the top. Sprinkle with the extra shredded carrots and place the bone-shaped biscuit in the center.

🐾 Serves: 1 small cake (for one medium/large dog or to be portioned for smaller dogs)

⚠️ Safety note: This recipe is free from onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes, raisins, and xylitol. Always consult your vet before introducing new foods to your dog’s diet.
