Dog-Safe Turkey Meatballs Recipe

This dog-safe version of Turkey Meatballs looks just like the real thing — and your pup will absolutely love it! Perfect for a special treat or a fun homemade meal. 🐾

🥩 Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) lean ground turkey
  • 60g (1/2 cup) plain, unsalted breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 50g (1/3 cup) finely shredded carrot
  • 120g (1/2 cup) plain pumpkin puree
  • 1 tbsp plain beet puree (for color)
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) water

🌿 Toppings & Garnish

  • 1 tbsp finely ground raw, unsalted cashews
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh parsley

👨‍🍳 Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, gently mix the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, and shredded carrot until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.
  4. While the pup-balls bake, whisk together the pumpkin puree, beet puree, and water in a small bowl until you have a smooth, sauce-like consistency.

🍽️ Assembly & Serving

  1. Place several cooled pup-balls in your dog’s bowl. Spoon the pumpkin ‘marinara’ sauce over the top, then garnish with a sprinkle of ground cashews and fresh parsley.

🐾 Serves: Approx. 16 pup-balls; serving size depends on dog’s weight.
